From Sunday 19 July, NZTA is trialling a new lane layout on the Melling Link Bridge to help reduce delays when leaving Lower Hutt.

During the trial, both westbound lanes on the bridge will be able to continue north towards Upper Hutt.

The left lane will still be available for people heading south to Wellington.

The traffic lights at the Melling and Tirohanga intersections will also be adjusted so they’re working with the new layout.

The trial will run for 8 weeks.

Temporary lane markings and signage will be in place during the trial.
